2019 - Online Part-Time Faculty Coach - (Supervisory position)

Bryant & Stratton College Online Education Faculty Coaches (FC) will support the college mission and vision by facilitating an active virtual learning classroom through alternative delivery methodologies along with supervising, coaching, and developing faculty to perform effectively in student engagement, student success, and persistence to graduation. FC's will maintain contemporary knowledge and skills in their discipline to support their expected classroom responsibilities along with coaching techniques for supervising and developing faculty.
Coaching and Development of Faculty:
Coach and develop approximately 20-25 adjunct faculty throughout the year
Coach faculty on student engagement & best practices in online teaching strategies in alignment with the college's teaching philosophy (CoI, Chickerings, Bloom, etc)
Host a one-on-one meeting with each faculty every session via SKYPE or phone call
Review all course preparation of faculty each session and provide guidance as applicable.
Conduct in-depth formal classroom observations of assigned adjunct faculty - approximately six observations each session
Mentor and develop new adjunct faculty each session (if needed)
Communicate with Program Manager (PM) each week regarding the faculty's performance
Uses a formal process to provide feedback concerning effectiveness and ways to improve performance (i.e., coaching plan) when required
Administrative duties:
Ensure faculty maintain their ePortfolio per the B&SC guidelines
Review gradebook and retention center performance weekly (i.e., feedback, state of completeness, and effectiveness) of each faculty member when in session to ensure faculty are following guidelines
Participates in Faculty Coach synchronous meetings once a term for collaboration and sharing ideas of coaching and developing strategies.
Complete any other duties as assigned
Position/Contract is renewed annually
Professional Development
Teach at least one course per year. Cannot teach more than one course per session
Complete professional development assigned by PM
Participates in ALL live/asynchronous faculty meetings as scheduled throughout the year.
Participates in professional learning to increase technical competence and to ensure skills and abilities remain aligned with the college's academic strategies
Competencies:
Promotes and models high standards of instructional competence
Provide and apply research-based practices and teaching strategies in the classroom
Individualizes coaching needs per faculty member
Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates good time management skills for effective coaching/development of faculty
Qualifications:
Master's degree in field
Must have at least 4 years of online teaching experience in higher education
Preferably 2 years teaching with Bryant & Stratton College Online
Management experience preferred

Task Duration Time
BOT inspection 1 week prior to session 25 classes/30 min = 12.5 hrs.
Teaching a course 7.5 weeks Average 10 hrs. per week
Coaching mentoring approx. 5 faculty each session- 1 hr. = 5 hrs. a week
Classroom Evaluations approx. 6 per session 1 hr. per eval each week = 5hrs.
Touch Points throughout the term 30 min/25 people = 12.5 hrs.
Prof. development 3 a year 2 hrs./3 times = 6 hrs.
Faculty meetings 6 a year 2 hrs. = 12 hrs. annually
Checks gradebooks
Review Retention Center 1-2 hrs. a week
On average a total of 17-22 hrs. per week each session.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
